What is it
For the YouTube Original documentary, England manager Gareth Southgate is joined by YouTube creators including Chris MD, SV2, Yung Filly and StuntPegg to explore how important social issues such as mental health and wellbeing, racial inclusion and gender inequality are being addressed in football, thanks to the inspiring work of young people at grassroots and community level across the country.

Look
Stuart worked closely with Series Producer, Dan Riley to achieve a fresh and honest grade to highlight the grass roots nature of the film. Additionally due to quite freakish weather conditions whilst filming in April there were challenges in the grade to balance showers and snow with quick contrasts to sunshine.
The Online in Avid Symphony involved a collaboration with the YouTube creators to help unify to the YouTube Originals spec bring it together to as film. Beth and Maciej also re-created of GFX and titles and comped multiple football archive of Gareth Southgate glory days in Euro 96’ onto TV screen from that period, a retro feel was also added with VHS effects.

Mixed in 5.1 using Pro Tools, Steve’s main challenge was to create a soundtrack that would appeal to the wider You Tube audience while remaining understated. The cut featured audio from a variety of sources, ranging from sports archive to location audio and some You Tuber content, meaning Steve had to work hard to maintain a consistent feel across the mix.
